We are innovative, dynamic and collaborative, putting people at the heart of it! Our experienced artists use a person-centered approach to create safe spaces and unique projects where individuals can thrive.
Creativity- The Magic Elixir
We all have creativity within us. We believe that creativity helps us become unstuck and starts us moving forward again. It sparks curiosity, soothes the mind, broadens horizons and reconnects us with the world. There is strong evidence today that being creative is great for your health! From lowering blood pressure to releasing ‘feel good’ chemicals in the brain.

"It's an enriching experience that I wouldn't miss for the world"
A social, vibrant art space for seeding creative ideas. We welcome people who’ve experienced drug and alcohol issues to unearth hidden talents and find new ways to support Recovery.
Weekly sessions include...
OPEN ART STUDIO - Bring your ideas, create your own artwork and exhibit with our group.
CREATIVE TASTERS - Come and ‘dip your toes’ with mini artist-led making sessions.
GROUP COLLABORATIONS - From Street Art to Textiles projects we work together to achieve something to
share with others, making recovery visible!
“the process of working creatively as a group towards an end goal is a great life and recovery lesson,
you realise that you can achieve great things bit by bit and you learn to work as a team.”
Mondays 1-4.30pm- The Hut (old art rooms), behind 12 Victoria St, Barnsley- Call Helen 078 3393 6019 to arrange a meet up 10 minutes before the session as The Hut is tricky to find and we do have the occasional break.
"When you see these ideas coming together it dares you to think it is possible in your own life too"
Re:Sound, in the word of Re:Sounders:
Re:Sound is “somewhere where you can come and express yourself through the music. You know when you’re tongue tied for words but then you can write it down”. “ You’re not judged, you’re not labelled and that whats good about the place”. “ It’s just a nice environment, it’s a brilliant atmosphere, there’s no stress."
It’s a “big release of my emotions and thats what the music has done for me” . “It’s helped me to believe in myself more, and achieve a lot of goals and dreams, and having the chance to do what I’ve always wanted to do.”
We have just started a new exciting project called Re:Sound Reach Out, where we will be getting out and about with our very own street piano and running more of our popular “Alternative Nite Out” events.
For more information about Re:Sound contact the office or call Project Leader, Hayley for more info on 07885900257 or contact the Creative Recovery Office.
The Re:Sound Reach Out Project is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.

"UPLIFT has transformed my life- for the better. Before I was socially isolated and had no channel for my artistic and creative side. UPLIFT activities have been rewarding in their own right but have also enlarged my social network. I count several people I have met as my friends now."
"Here I am accepted wholeheartedly and I belong for the first time in my life"
